
The Soprano Elizabeth Claxton Castillo is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. She has toured across Spain, France, Italy, Holland and the United States, spanning a career of opera, oratorio, concerts, recitals, and cabarets in some of the most exciting venues and performing with some of the most prestigious orchestras. Some of her concert performances include Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Dubois Seven Last Words of Christ both under the baton of Rolando Salazar, Rutter’s Magnificat in Atlanta's Spivey Hall, Haydn's Creation, the Brahms Requiem again at Spivey Hall, Vivaldi Gloria, Messiah, Shastakovich’s Seven Poems of Alexander Blok for Piano Trio and voice Opus 127 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Gerhilda in Die Walküre with The London Philharmonic, Elijah, Coronation Ode, Petite Messe Solennelle, Verdi Requiem and A Sea Symphony
Elizabeth was winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Georgia (2008) Florida (2006) District Auditions, she was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Singer of the Year competition in Shreveport 2008, and was a finalist in Palm Beach 2007.
Elizabeth has been seen as Sharon in the Tony Award winning play The Master Class by Terrence McNally with The Stagedoor Players, Valencienne in St. Petersberg Opera’s The Merry Widow, Praskowia for Opera New Jersey along with covering Violetta in their 2008 season. She has also been seen as Musetta in La Boheme and Adele in Die Fldermaus with St. Petersberg Opera Company. Other roles include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (London), Clarice in the Royal Academy Opera’s Il Mondo della Luna, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus with the Brevard Music Festival, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Rome Festival.
Elizabeth recently performed the title role in Capitol City Opera’s production of The Merry Widow. She has also been performing with The Atlanta Opera’s tours of The Pirates of Penzance, Rabbit Tales. She debuted the role of Winnie Verloc in the World Premiere, The Secret Agent - music by Atlanta composer, Curtis Bryant with Capitol City Opera. In July 2014 she was in Robbiate, Italy performing the Brahms Requiem and Elijah solos with the First Annual Bassi Brugnatelli Conductors and Singing Symposium. She then performed the International and American premiere of the work “The Divine Siren” composed by Dr. John Ratledge in November 2014. Elizabeth also performed on the Opera With an Edge program for The Atlanta Opera this past Fall at the Cobb Energy Center. This March she will sing with the Michael O'Neal Singers in their performance of Bruckner's Te Deum and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy with the Georgia Philharmonic. In April she will be doing a tour of recitals, touring with the University of North Georgia in Asheville and Chattanooga singing the Schubert Mass in G and ending the month with a performance of Elijah with the University of Alabama and the University Singers.
